Turkey Building Inventory

Project: Turkey Building Inventory
Project Duration: 2008 – 2009
Project Scale: 30 arc-second (approx. 1 km x 1 km) analysis grids
Project Extent: Administrative Border of Turkey
Project Participants: GRM; Boğaziçi University, Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute (KOERI)

Scope of Project: A building inventory was produced as a basemap for the earthquake damage module of the JRA-3 component of the NERIES Project in the EU’s Sixth Framework Program, in which software was developed for the rapid estimation of ground movement vibrations and loss in the Euro-Mediterranean region. Using the building inventory information and the parameters obtained from the earthquake ground motion module, the building damage module is used in the analyses for the estimation of building damage and of post-event casualties. Approaches based on both intensity and spectral ground motion are used for estimates.
